Identified major agricultural issues/problems by Farmers Fora:

·        Off season vegetables /Plastic house technology: High custom/tax on plastic sheets,  inadequate technological support, diseases, pest, soil, test and others. Supply of planting materials (quality, cost and purity of seeds, saplings and others) Marketing of vegetable, Phytosanetory certification to export India, frequent "Bandth", road blockage, etc.

·        Cage fish Farming: Lack of adequate numbers of fingerlings of standard size, shortage of fingerlings, high cost with poor quality of plastic nets, pollution in Fewa Lake, higher use of pesticides, infestation of water weeds, declination of fish population, flow of fish, canal and other construction work and others.

·        Organic Coffee: Organic certification, training and skill to the farmers, credit support, lack of adequate knowledge/skill on coffee production/management among the farmers.

·        Milk/dairy: high tax on importation of dairy equipments, high cost of production (shortage of feed ingredients, and faulty feeding  for milk production), high price of feeds, unorganised market (low paid price to milk producers,  poor collection of raw milk, lack of support services (credit, insurance, storage etc).

·        Organic orthodox tea: Lack of adequate tea processing plant to absorb green tea leaves, low price of tea leaves, threat of international market due to higher use of pesticides, development of code of conduct, the higher prices of organic fertilizers, lack of adequate research/studies and trained manpower on tea and continual use of older varieties.

·        Cardamom:  High incidence of diseases and pest (Surke and Furke diseases), storage/ drying of cardamom, marketing of cardamom, lack of improved varieties.

·        Zinger: diseases and pests (rots, red ants), lack of adequate marketing, lack of stores and processing plants, lack of credit, improved varieties, lack of resource centres.

·        Sugarcane: import of illegal sugar, mill owners compelled to sell sugar at deficit price, low price of sugarcane by farmers, drying of cane sugar due to delay in operations, closure of subsidised planting materials, fertilisers and cultivation cost.

·        IPM: lack of suitable technology, lack of suitable planting materials, low price of agricultural products.

·        Cereal (paddy): lack of suitable technology, lack of adequate quantity of quality fertilisers, irrigations, low price of agricultural products.

·        Orange: lack of suitable technology, lack of adequate quantity of quality fertilisers, irrigations, low price of agricultural products.

·        Commercial Poultry Farming: High cost and poor quality of poultry feed, lack of own commercial poultry breed, poultry diseases, credit and marketing support, storage facilities, custom /tax, manpower/human resources, policies/programs, lack of poultry board and others.
